Matthew 28:18-20 is known throughout Christian circles as the Great Commission. It says:
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age."
Jesus commands us to preach the gospel to everyone, and then he reminds us that he will always be with us. But something we tend to neglect is what he says firstly: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." As Christians, it is our goal to become more like Christ. If Christ has all the authority in heaven and on earth, then of course we have that same authority to carry out God's will on earth. There are people who are lost and it is our job, as commanded by Christ, to show them the glory and beauty of God.
In my youth we're focussing on missions and community impact this year. I don't know where God will take me, but I know that he'll be with me every step of the way, and I have the Holy Spirit to guide me.
